Hitchcock classics join UNESCO register

Nine of Alfred Hitchcock's silent films have been chosen to represent the cultural heritage of the UK. Made in the late 20s and now restored, these rarely seen titles have been added to the smartly named UNESCO Memory of the World Register.

The nine titles were restored by the BFI over three years and became the largest restoration projection the national institute has ever undertaken. The films are currently touring America, giving new audiences the chance to admire and appreciate these lost gems from the director's early career.

Offering a glimpse of the genius of Hitchcock, these works now form a significant part of any season celebrating the famous director.
