Director Bob Rafelson's seminal portrait of a disaffected America, which was originally released in 1970 to huge critical acclaim, will soon be back in cinemas.<br /><br />As Robert Dupea, Jack Nicholson delivers a career-defining performance, embodying the tortured disillusionment with his suffocating family, his neglected talent as a piano prodigy, and his aimless life on the road working oil rigs. With his father terminally ill, he embarks on a trip back home, but reconciliation eludes him.<br /><br />Nominated for four Academy Awards ('Best Actor in a Leading Role', 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role', 'Best Picture', and 'Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Factual Material or Material Not Previously Published or Produced'), FIVE EASY PIECES boasts powerful performances from its cast.<br /> <br />Tammy Wynette provided five songs for the film's soundtrack, including the international hit 'Stand By Your Man'. <br /><br />In celebration of its 40th Anniversary, FIVE EASY PIECES has been extensively restored by Sony Pictures and will open on brand new 35mm prints and in Digital Cinema format from 13 August at BFI Southbank, Filmhouse Edinburgh, Irish Film Institute, Ritzy Brixton, Tyneside Cinema Newcastle and key cities.
