Pandora and the Flying Dutchman

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman

Albert Lewin's romantic classic with a supernatural twist, PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, has been fully restored and will be back in cinemas from 14 May.

With stunning costumes from Beatrice Dawson and still photography from surrealist artist Man Ray, Ava Gardner looks the part as the glamourous and carefree Pandora. Also featuring a stellar cast including James Mason and Nigel Patrick, this stylish cult film was shot in glorious Technicolor by Jack Cardiff.

PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN tells the story of a Dutchman, living in the 17th century, who is not permitted to rest until he finds a woman who loves him enough to die for him. He meets the reincarnation of a woman from his dead past and falls in love. The story progresses to a hair-raising reconciliation of past and present.

PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN will open from 14 May at BFI Southbank and Key Cities.
