Jo Hayden and Harry Palmer, a successful vaudeville double act on the brink of realising their dream of performing at the Palace Theatre on Broadway, see their plans thrown into jeopardy when America gears up for entrance into WWI and Harry receives an enlistment notice. Hoping to delay his enlistment long enough in order to go on with their performance, Harry intentionally injures himself - but his scheme drives Jo away and leaves Harry regretting his rash decision.
