The League of Gentlemen

Richard Attenborough stars in this action-packed film that sees military minds being dogged by civilian irritations during an ingenious bank robbery. After being ‘retired’ from the army, Colonel Hyde (Jack Hawkins) is resentful of his country’s ingratitude. However, before leaving he spends some time in the War Office, which he relieves of several important pieces of information. Using these, he assembles a group of bankrupt or embittered ex-army officers, all experts in their selected fields. He brings them together and they plan, down to the smallest detail, an ingenious bank robbery. However, an unforeseen event threatens their chances of escape.
