THE GOLD RUSH & MODERN TIMES - OUT NOW

    Gold Rush & Modern Times

THE GOLD RUSH and MODERN TIMES are now both available for the first time in Dual Format Editions (Blu-Ray and DVD) from all good retailers and the Park Circus AStore

THE GOLD RUSH is widely reported to be the film that Chaplin most wanted to be remembered for. It sees The Tramp as a lone prospector venturing to Alaska looking for gold. He gets mixed up with some burly characters, falls in love with the beautiful Georgia (Georgia Hale) and tries to win her heart with his singular charm.
This Dual Format Edition includes two versions of the film: the digitally restored 1942 film where Chaplin took the 1925 original, composed and recorded a musical score for the film, added narration and re-edited, as well as the 1925 silent original.

***** “A lovely blend of comedy and tender poetry” - EMPIRE

Extras include: • Silent original 1925 release version of the film (restored by Kevin Brownlow)
• Introduction by David Robinson
• Chaplin Today: Gold Rush – documentary
• Photo Gallery

In MODERN TIMES, one of Charles Chaplin’s most popular films, The Tramp struggles to live in a modern industrial society with the help of a young, homeless woman, played by Paulette Goddard. The film is both the last of The Tramp films and the last silent film Chaplin made, and is another masterful mix of drama, social comment and wonderful comedy.

***** “Blissful, subversive and wickedly ingenious” - DAILY TELEGRAPH

    Extras include:
• Introduction by David Robinson
• Chaplin Today: Modern Times – documentary
• Deleted Scenes
• Chaplin Karaoke

THE AFRICAN QUEEN - Back in Cinemas

Having undergone an amazing $600,000 restoration, John Huston's 1951 masterpiece THE AFRICAN QUEEN screened to an excellent reception at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival, as part of the Cannes Classics Official Selection, and is now available for bookings on new 35mm and 2K Digital Cinema Prints.

Three movie giants come together in this cinematic classic, combining the masterful direction of John Huston with the fabulous chemistry of Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn in their only onscreen pairing. Bogart won a well-deserved Best Actor Oscar for his role as disreputable river-boat captain Charlie, who forms an unlikely alliance with Hepburn's straight-laced Rose.

Based on the book by C.S. Forester, this wartime romantic adventure sees the pair forced to travel together down a hazardous East African river. As they face dangers and devise an ingenious way to destroy an enemy gunboat, both discover new sides to their personalities and before long their passionate dislike turns to love.
