With a host of female fronted action movies set to hit screens in 2018, we've gone back through the archives to put together a celebration of the most fatal femmes in film history.
Our selections are dominated by titles from the female action boom of the 80s and 90s - a period of productivity that followed in the wake of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley, who exploded any existing ideas of what women could do in mainstream action cinema with 1979’s Alien. But there’s nods towards earlier examples of the genre too - courtesy of some pre-women’s liberation pioneers and a few exploitation era badasses - as well a couple of picks highlighting the contemporary resurgence of women in film who are truly deadlier than the male.
