Everyman Cinema Celebrate 50 years of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic musical adventure film, Everyman are playing a special Sing-Along version across the UK on Sunday 16th December. The date marks the Royal Premiere of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 50 years ago.

Hoss Ghonouie, Head of Marketing at Everyman Cinemas said: “We’re big fans of the film so the 50th anniversary is a great excuse for our guests to Sing-Along in our venues. It’s the quintessential fantasy writing from Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl, lavish dance sequences performed by Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes and the weirdest and most terrifying bad guy in the form of Robert Helpmann’s Child Catcher that make it all so memorable.”

Based on the original 1964 story by Ian Fleming, the film stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Adrian Hall, Heather Ripley, Lionel Jeffries and Robert Helpmann. It was produced by Albert R. ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, one of the producers of the James Bond films, who enlisted Ken Hughes to direct and write the screenplay with Roald Dahl and American songwriting duo Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman to write the music and lyrics. The title song earned an Academy Award® nomination in 1969.
