From the window of a tube train, a crane driver witnesses what appears to be a murder. When he intervenes he finds his job and marriage in jeopardy. Redgrave gives a delightful performance as a working man out of his depth, but the real joy of the film lies in the extraordinary scenes shot on Waterloo Bridge – then still under construction.
